Red Devils need to make it back-to-back wins over the Danes as they look to battle for a last-16 place

Erik ten Hag's side travel to Parken knowing that they need to make it back-to-back wins over the Danes to boost their hopes of reaching the last 16 of Europe's premier club competition.

United had Harry Maguire's first goal since February 2022 and a last-gasp penalty save from Andre Onana to deny Jordan Larsson to thank for effectively saving their Group A campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Copenhagen at Old Trafford a fortnight ago.

Now they must repeat that feat on the road with little room for manoeuvre after they lost their opening games of the competition to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, who meet in Germany tonight.

Bruno Fernandes' stoppage-time winner at Fulham on Saturday helped ease the pressure on his manager and the increasing sense of crisis at United, but the performance levels still left a lot to be desired and Ten Hag will be demanding more tonight.

Manchester United take on Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday as they bid to finish in the qualifying places of Group A.

Erik ten Hag’s side sit third in the group, six points behind Bayern Munich in top spot, and one point behind second-placed Galatasaray.

United were able to end a poor run of form with a fortunate 1-0 over Fulham on Saturday, although it had looked for most of the game like they might be about to lose out again.

Wednesday will offer another chance for Ten Hag to restore some pride to the club who go into the match eighth in the Premier League table and with pressure building on the manager, especially following last week’s 3-0 home defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.

Manchester United have had a host of injury issues so far this season, and the club are likely to continue to be without Casemiro for the match, but Marcus Rashford could be included in the squad after only being ruled out of the Fulham game by a late fitness test.

Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo are all on the long-term injury list however and will not be included.

Erik ten Hag's side secured a late 1-0 Premier League win over Fulham at the weekend, to ease some of the pressure on the Dutchman's position at Old Trafford. But they have picked up just three points from three Champions League games so far in Group A.

Harry Maguire's late goal sealed a 1-0 home victory over Copenhagen in the reverse fixture last month, but United look to be in a straight shootout with Galatasaray for second place in the group, behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Raphael Varane could return, after featuring off the bench at Craven Cottage, but Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Casemiro are all still sidelined long-term. Diogo Dalot will likely maintain his spot at left-back, with United still best by defensive injuries.

Their 1-0 win at Old Trafford last month against the Danish side was a key victory for United as it kept them in touch with group leaders Galatasaray and Bayern Munich. A win at Parken Stadium will be necessary once again on Wednesday night ahead of hosting Bayern Munich in the next matchday at Old Trafford.

United have lost two of the three matches they have played since facing FC Copenhagen, keeping the pressure on Erik ten Hag. Copenhagen, meanwhile, have won all three matches since their defeat in Manchester and will recall having pushed Bayern Munich hard during a 1-2 defeat at home back in the opening matchday in September.

The Red Devils are third in Group A after securing their first Champions League win of the season last time out against Copenhagen at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag's men are in a tough period, but they secured a crucial 1-0 victory at Fulham on Saturday, with Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes netting the winner with his 91st-minute strike.

United find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League, and they'll be well aware they need a win in Copenhagen if they are to have any chance of getting out of their Champions League group.

Copenhagen, who are top of the Danish Superliga, have impressed in all of their Champions League games this season, as they almost held Bayern Munich and United to draws.

Having lost two games each in Group A, Copenhagen are set to welcome Manchester United for a crucial tie in the 2023-24 Champions League at Parken Stadium on Wednesday.

Erik ten Hag's side have been far from their best this season, although their win over Copenhagen thanks to the heroics of Andre Onana and Harry Maguire gives the Premier League outfit an edge in Group A.

United come into the tie on the back of a 1-0 league win at Fulham, while the Danish hosts also tasted victory at the weekend as they defeated Randers 4-2 in Superliga.
